Nowadays arthroscopy of the ankle joint has become an important procedure with
numerous indications for both anterior as well as posterior pathology and pathology
of tendons. Posterior ankle problems pose a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge,
because of their nature and the deep location of hindfoot structures.

In this advanced course we focus on pathology in the hindfoot and surgical techniques
related to these problem.

We highlight several techniques of the posterior ankle compartment, especially for
arthroscopic techniques. The course highlights the specific anatomical structures
important for the posterior ankle arthroscopy since anatomical knowledge is an
important element for proper surgery and will directly influence the outcome with
respect to complication rates. But also detailed attention to surgical techniques will be
given in this mainly hands-on course.
